Alternator Really not an HO?

Alright, so I have been riding around with no subs for a couple months now, and I finally got to hook up my SAZ1500D and my FI Q. I bought an alternator from DBELECTRICAL and it's supposed to be a 200amp alt. There is now way in this world this is true. I am running my amp @ 2ohms since I currently only have one sub, and my lights dim like crazy and my voltage drops below 12.4v and goes back to around 12.8v. When I first hooked up the alternator with no amp pushing it, it would sit at 14.4v. Now as soon as I start up my car it sits @ 12.6v, WTF? I don't think it's supposed to drop below 13.8v, but correct me if I am wrong. I even saw it drop as low as 11.6v!!! Please let me know if I just need to give it a little bit more time to get used to the new electrical load, or do I need to call DBELECTRICAL and tell them they sold me a BS HO alt?

The Alt could be going bad. I have a DB electricial alt in my truck and It works great. My voltage was only dropping down to 12.6ish with two Orion 2500D's

Ive had it for about a year.

I have only had the alt hooked up for maybe 2 weeks......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

make sure your battery is in good shape and that its fully charged. Check all connections and make sure that they are tight and clean. If I were you I would hook battery to a charger for a day and go from there. What kind of battery do you have and how old is it?

Does it drop that low when you rev the motor or only when the car is at idle? If it does, I would call DB and let them know what is going on. I have a quite a few friends who run DB's alternators. One of them had a problem w/ the alternator and they replaced it right away.

My alt drops below 12.2V when I am idle. When I am moving, of course it's good. I feel like I should have just kept my stock alt in, I would have at least known that I can't bump while idle. I will be calling DBELECTRICAL monday. It's ridiculous that my alt goes below 12.4V while idle, that was the whole point of me buying a HO alt!!! I am royally pissed about this whole situation. Why can't these companies just get it right the first time. Jeez.

my idle is 12.8V?

stock HO alt ftw?

My idle is 14.51v, EA FTW!

Your HO alt might not be kicking in soon enough, especially if your car idles very low. They might be able to modify it or you can add a smaller pull to spin it faster at idle.
