Alternator question

Hey all,

When i turn my ignition on to acessory to play radio without starting the engine, i noticed a noise under the hood, located it to be from the alternator, is it supposed to have a bit of alternator whine as i guess you call it, when the car is off? or is the ground for my HU crappy?

its virtually impossible that it could be your alt. i mean, your car is OFF right? so the alt is motionless. are you sure its not your fuel pump, or starter selenoid?

ill have to double check, it didnt make sense to me either *shrug*

its most likely something from your fuel system. its normal. does it sound natural? or like weird/annoying ?

i mean i ugess is kinda naturally sounding as if something electrical is running and i can only hear it when hood is open im sure its no biggie.
