alternator problems

Alright guy's i need some help my car now just got some problems i went to go and shut it off before i could i heard a really lound screeching sound so i went to go and look in the back of my trunk and noticed my ground wire was off so i disconnected the system totally and when i went to go and try and start my car it would just give that loud screeching sound and it would just die out. i then noticed my alternator was not even spinning. i can get another alternator but what could of caused this i have 2 12 pionneers and a monoblock digital audio amp pushn 800 to each sub this has never happened before though. the alternator is frozen up and won't spin at all now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif please help

is ur electrical system stock?

1600 rms is a lot for a stock car to take

I would say go to autozone and have them check ur alternator for free but u cant drive it haha

The alternator is on a a 1989 lincoln mark vii , this alternator is not even 2 weeks old and was bought brand new.

it's never done this before im running 4 awg wire for the system a 150amp anl fuse 16awg street wires speaker wire.

From..................?I'd imagine that only after 2-weeks that you'd have some sort of warranty? Yea...might want to look into that

And not to sound like a dick...but usually when I hear a loud screeching noise coming from the engine bay...I dont check the trunk:laugh:

well i got a lifetime warranty on it , and the trunk isn't the first thing i checked i checked that after cause i noticed after my ground wire was off but instead of taking and putting wire back on i just dissconnected whole system.

Get a new one first and foremost...if it doesn't turn over, call a reliable mechanic. I don't know why, but I don't think its your alt...

i would suggest adding a second battery to take some of the strain off of ure alternator

As your trying to start it, the belt is not spinning the alt at all, or are you just not able to spin the alt by hand?

it wont spin could mean ur battery is reallyyyyyy dead...

happened to me once i had to get like a 10 minute jump to recharge it enough to start my car
