Hey, i've got a profile ca440 amp, and i was getting horrible alternator noise, and i didnt put any power cables near antyhing else. I went to my local shop and asked what kinda thing to get because i had heard about ground loop isolators. But the d**k at the store told me that my profile amp was just a piece of crap and thats why there is road noise, which completely contradicts what i've heard on this board. WOuld having the amp mounted on the back of the back seat in my civic have anything to do with it? it is screwed directly into metal with just a thin piece of carpet between the amp and the seat metal stuff. I did get the ground loop isolator and it helped a ton, but i lost about all my bass from my already lacking infinity midranges, granted i have a sub, but it still pisses me off, anyone have any ideas? thanks

Make sure the ground wire has a good solid source, Like the frame or somthing solid that attaches to the frame, Scrape all the paint off of the spot you ground it too. You might try some better rca's, some that are shielded that can be bonded to the ground source @ the HU, Make sure you HU is grounded good. Alt noise can be a pain in the *** to figure out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

Also most manufactures recommend not to screw the amp directly into metal, Instead screw it to a board and the screw the board into the metal. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i've tried some monster cable rcas, running directly from the hu through the air to the amp, and it was about the same. my ground is also in the spare tire well, which is the body of the car, i used a dremel tool to get the paint off. So do you think mounting the amp on a board would get rid of the noise?

Alt noise can be like voodoo, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif It can be anything. Try everything I said and check everything in your vehicle for a good ground source. And if you have several components close together try to ground all of them @ the same spot. You might even want to check the battery teminal ground and the ground points of the alt.

Try grounding your amp to a bolt that is attached to the frame. I usually attach mine to a bolt that holds one of the seats to the frame or the point the seatbelt attaches to the frame. Make sure you have same size ground wire as do power wire and that it is large enough. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif
