Alternator cooling with fresh air duct

I have thought about this idea for a while now. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried supplying fresh are via a duct directly to the alternator . I know that some BMW car have this very system to cool there alternators.

Has anyone tried this or heard about Duct cooled alternator?

Probably trying to rid of heat soak I'm guessing.
