Hey guys, first of all posting my setup then going into some questions to hear your suggestions.

As you can tell, I need a capacitor lol

I'm wondering what capacitor I should get, I want it to last and I want it to save my alternator

Currently headlights are dimming if I have it too loud and it's about half up without capacitor atm.

Also I need to get a new stereo in general since my right side channels blew. Tested them multiple times and rewired different speakers, the whole shebang.

JVC KD-X320BTS (Factory Refurbished, does not play CDs) Digital media receiver at Crutchfield.com

Thats what I have in mind atm, but honestly no idea if that's the one to get :p

Ok first OP, accept that you know nothing about car audio. 2nd, understand that there is no capacitor out there that will benefit you. I dont have time to tell you everything but what you need is either a 2nd battery or a complete electrical overhaul. For all we know you're using 8 awg wire for your amp.

Yeah i dont know anything, which is why i asked questions lol, i assume you guyd got me :p
If i do another battery wont i need a better alternator too?
To run that Mojo 4k yes you need an alt upgrade a big rear batt, big 3,good agm up front at least.Stock alt with no battery backup you are asking for trouble.

All good man. Its not like your local audio shop is gonna explain everything you need. As long as they sell the products they dont care.

Id choose a modest ho alternator from somewhere like db electrical. Maybe 250 amps or so. And 1 aux battery. Look up info on the BIG 3 and ho alternator installs. Find out what AGM batteries are why they are compatible with each other. And stick around here. Youll learn tons.

A 300 amp alternator is plenty. Higher voltage equals better efficiency.
why do people meter higher with a bigger bank then? The alt is not gonna supply at that all at once. You need instant access reserves

You need a better box. That current box is horribly designed. Your amp is not even close to making 4k let alone 2k right now with your stock like electricals. You need a high output alt 270 or higher, big 3 and a good battery under the hood along with one or two batteries in the rear by the amp.

Seeing as you have a 4k amp. You might want some beefier subs that can handle the amp when you actually get full power out of it down the line.

If you are metering at idle than the bank will support before the alt unless you have enough idle amperage from the start. If you meter at higher current RPM than it will never see the batteries.

People say you need power by the amp. That's BS. Electricity flows very fast. Power flows from the highest point down, not he other way around. Highest point should be the alternator. Batteries do not rest at 14v

Aw yeah took the words right out of my mouth. Capacitance makes a huge difference, adding my second battery made a noticeable difference in output.

this was at 2.5k rpm. The guy's alt gets full power at 1.5k. This was not at idle. It was a clear gain after adding two batts.

Yes and no. Mostly no.
