Kicker KX700.5 (5 channel amp, 700wrms, 900w max) power a kicker cvr12 dual 4ohm sub in 2ohm mode at 400w, and 75w each channel for infinity 3ways

i have a 90a alternator in my car, and the amp is running on TWO 10 gauge kits wired together, the wires were already in my car from two previous small amp installations

sometimes my dash and headlights dim when the bass hits

would upgrading to a 4 gauge Stinger kit solve this problem? Do I need a capacitor? Do I need a 120a alternator ?

thanks

big 3 as well as a new battery and alty would be great! The capacitor I'm afraid would not giv eyou what you are looking for in such a case though.

with 700 watts rms i think he'll be fine. do the wire upgrade first and go from there. a cap is useless in your situation.

he hasn't done the big 3 and it sounds like a half assed install, so i think he if he does it right he won't have problems. imo it's a little early to be suggesting batteries and alternators
You get the point in this one:cool:

...rework the wires. I am a newbie when it comes to systems over 300 watts rms...I am currently acquiring equipment to go to 1000 watts rms.(at least)..I have not used caps before..what are their benifits to a stock alternator/battery setup?

Only benfit from a cap is it light up trunk and is shiny.

Benifit of have stock battery and stock alt is you didnt spend money on a new one

Rewire for sure but I will add that if you can get even a 120amp alternator decently cheap then i woudl think also about getting that either way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif it wont harm anything.

by cheap i know that you can take a neon (80-90 amp) and swap it with a PT cruiser one that is 120ish .. after your core charges and such it costs locally around $90 caanadian //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That woudl at least add a little headroom for you.

x2... a cap unloads all its stored power in a split second, leaving no benefit for when bass hits longer than that.

4 gauge will fix your problem, an extra battery and alt are definitly not needed with your system, yet.
