i heard 1 15" alpine type r in a honda trunk car with a american bass amp pushing 3000 watts.the 15 was 2000 watts and i could not sit in the car for more than 45 seconds and i love bass.but that was a bit much lol.the box he had it in looked to be around 3 cubes.speaker was facing towards roof,2 round ports facing the trunk.it felt like my ear drums were going to come out of my head !

That sounds insane lol, I don't want that much power I heard the 12"s are good but I heard that from Youtube. lol Never actually herd them in person before.

at that time i heard his,i was pushing only 400watts rms,after i heard his,i was ashamed of mine lol.hence my upgrade

i was originally going to go with the type-r's but i chose to go with he cvx.and once i figured out how to set amp and hu,im very pleased.

never was a really big fan of kicker, to me you pay more for the name than anything. all i have herd weren't that great IMO and they cost way to much.

i was just making conversation..on a side note i paid $179 for my cvx brand new.there was a guy somewhere on here that said they hooked up 700 watts to a l7,and then hooked the type r on the same wats,same system,and he said the type-r was louder.i have heard allso that the type-x sounds really good at high volume. if i had the cash and wasnt satisfied with what i have,i would do i type-x in a 2-2.4 cubes.port and sub facing rear.good luck

I would def go with the RE SE 12" I just went from the type r to the SE and the SE hits much lower and has way more SQ then the Type r...

Alright i wasnt trying to argue with you or throw your ideas down the drain. I was just letting you know what my personal preference was. I mean kicker isn't a bad speaker their actually pretty good and their in my top 5 but I would prefer not to have one. pretty much because everyone and their brother has one in my school.

What about SX? are those no good?

The R will make a lot more pressure, but the SE will sound way better. I've played with both.

i have always been a jl fan and still run a set of 10w0 subs in one of my cars, but the other has a set of type-r 10s and i like the sound just fine. love the simple yet somewhat elegant design of them and will probably invert them for the new box in the spring. (well, maybe just one to show off both views) currently in a square, about 0.75cf per sealed, ~550 going to each. they do sound good at lower volumes as well as boom if i crank it, never overpowering the interior but they are in the trunk behind the back seat.

the only downside, if there is one, is the fact that they are so power hungry. granted i had the 10w0s in a ported box in a small suv, but they pounded like hell with only 150 to each. now they are in a sealed fg setup with only 75 to each, but that is by choice - i just want them to fill in the low end a little. the alpines will pound as well but they want every bit of the ~550 i am giving each, and more.

never had a RE sub of anykind so i cannot comment on that.

From the looks from everyones opinion here in a clear majority the RE's are better. Than the Type R's.

I think the R's RMS at 500 and peak at 1500

idk what the RE's stats are.
