Alpine vs RE

Need some good opinions here. I can't decide what I want to put in my 01 GAGT

I was thinking about getting either 12" Alpine Type R's, 12" Type X's, or 12" RE's if RE please state your reason why and the model that you think is the best and is affordable.

I want to get something that will hit hard but doesn't over power the actual music.

And for my definition of "hard"- My friend has a F-150 with two Audiobahn 10" 900 Watt Ultra Excursion Subwoofer's and they hit pretty "hard" for being in such a small cab, if he puts the loud setting on his alpine deck the bass over powers his doors, and he has audiobahn 6.5 door speakers as well.

I just think two subs look better together, like one standalone sub looks awkward to me. and it seems to me that if you have two of the same type of sub, over one then the two subs together with the right amount of power would be double the sound right?.

I have been told though that one extra sub may only make a 3db increase.

i love alpine because they have a rubber surround, it's nearly impossibly to damage them. I believe the RE subs have foam surround on the cone which could damage easily. I would go alpine, because it will get louder and last longer. The SE will sound better though.

Get some MTs and a 3000d your friend will think its junk at first because its not shiny. you may need more than 5oo.

For 500 I would find a used 12 or 15 and a 1000-1500 watt amp of the classifieds in here. you might be able to pull that off. Just build a nice box for it and you will toast your buddy.

If buying new stuff I like RE good SQ out of their moofers. I have wanted to try those type Xs sealed, have yet to hear them.

For those voting RE I'd like to know why you support them. They look pretty good in my book but I just don't know if their necessarily better than Alpine for say.

And what are MT's? never herd of them.

I want something that looks clean not all junky and sloppy even if the junky looking ones sound better.

the se get loud while still sounding good. the type r is loud but does not sound as good.

What look good to some is junk for others.

I never said they look "good" they just sound good to me at least.

Two type r's and see if you can find yourself a used Sundown 1500D or any other decent 1000+watt amp. That would bump. My friend just got 2 Type R's for X-mas and a Memphis M-class 1100D amp. Havent heard it yet(he cant use them till X-mas) but they should bump. We also built a box that was 4cft @34hz.
