another way to tell is the cone. the old ones had a slick CF cone, and the newer ones are more rubberish. you'll know immediately what i'm talking about when you see it.

and 160 is a good price. as for it not getting low - your box must ****. this sub will go as far as you'll want to go.

Right, the older cone has a type of coating on it that gives it a shiny look, plus I think it's a little bit lighter.

My reasoning was, I can tell the difference between the two, the OP might not be able without having both in front of him to compare.

However, a dead giveaway is the basket colors. The older basket is a light silver, the newer basket is a dark gray almost black.

I have some type x speakers from Alpine and they are better than anything ive ever heard so far. Im assuming the quality will carry over to their type x subwoofers. Alpine you would get some pretty good quality sound from them and the loudness would all depend on how they are installed.

Got it sounds good even in a leaky box I'm pretty sure its the older model however it suits my needs and I could probably flip it and make money by comboing it with an amp

From the pic it looks like the new one, just take it out of the box and see if the basket is light or dark (dark is the newer model).

I have the older model of the type x, 2 12's, in a VERY leaky box (bought it used online, didn't check out the box too well since the guy said he paid 200 euro for it, lol) and it sounds pretty **** good. Can't wait to build a new box.

At that price, go for it! Great SQ sub in a sealed enclosure, and I've heard they get down in the proper ported enclosure...Wanna try them in a 4th order ported through my rear deck one of these days!!!
