very good budget speaker imo, the tweeter isn't all that great but the mids are decent. put an amp to them and they are much better.

Just installed a set in my fiancees car yesterday. Sound good running off factory head unit. I purchased them on sale from Crutchfield.com for $50. They sound good.

for 50 they are worth it. Anything more than that and I'd find it hard to justify the purchase.

The new 'S' handle 80 rms ,240 peakThey also have a deeper bass response.The tweeter on the new 'S' co/ax only goes to 22k hz.The 's' units before these, the tweeters went to 30khz.Even though they only take 50 rms/w peak of 250 they had a much cleaner sparkle on the high end than the new ones.The cap. on the side of the new 'S' looks like a barrel bomb!I reccomend that all "S' and "R" co-ax speakers be run off a basic 50 rms 4-channel minimum to hear how nice they can sound.I have heard the 'S' without amplification,just "deck power",not worth listening to really.I used "S' speakers ,components,co-ax's withe the f-450 and the F550 4 channel amps before I went PDX and Type 'R".I ran the new 12W3-3-4's with the V-Power amps--F550 4 channel and 850-M mono-D class to run the W3's.All in all...They have a deeper sound than last years model...Alpine50---------------

I think you will get 6 1/2 speakers at nearly 80$ and the performance will be better.

I picked up my R's for $60 a piece. Shop around on ebay and you can find some good deals if you're willing to take that risk.
