Alpine Type R's 12" not hitting hard

I have the positive of the sub going to the positive of the terminals then to the positive of the amp, then the negative of the subs to the negative of the terminals, then to the negative of the amp..
I have that little piece of wire that connects the + and - to make the sub 2 ohms. Does anyone know what im talking about?

It's a brand new system, and I read everything about it and I thought I had everything down pat. Hopefully I can figure something out soon. Thanks for all your help!
It sounds like you have them wired like this which is 4 ohms...

It certainly won't hurt anything but you're only getting half the potential out of your amp. Are you sure your subs are the 1242d which is the dual 4 ohm model? If you only had 1 sub with dual 4 ohm coils you could wire it to 2 ohms but with 2 subs you cannot.

smoka and supergumby5000 tied for win.

Why do you always quote a small portion only to show your side of the argument? Does the truth hurt? Instead, why not use the full quote and bold the important sections. Here, I will show you how.

You sure your subs are in phase?
Subs in phase? Not too sure I know what that means...How would I know if they are in phase?
Subs should be wired correctly - I am going to take them out and re-check.

That's the box I got...

Where do I learn to set gains properly?

Vehicle is a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Headunit is a Phase Linear UV8. Everything on the subwoofer side is cranked all the way up.

Thank's a lot for your responses.
Out of phase means that one sub is wired polar opposite of the other sub. That would be like having one sub wired right, POS+ output on amp to POS+ input on sub, and the other sub would be backwards, POS+ output on amp to NEG- input on sub.
Now how hard was that? Time for you to go back under the bridge troll! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Alright, well I just bought a brand new system. I got a MRP-M1000 Alpine amp and 2 Alpine SWR1242D subwoofers. I know that the amp is perfect for the system, but I got it all plugged up and it only bumps when the volume is maxed out. Anything below the max volume and the subs are barely bumping. I know that they should probably bump a little louder than what they are.
What do you guys think is the problem? I got the little 2ohm splitter connected to the subs, and everything is getting power, just not bumping as hard as I'd expected it to.

Thanks a lot!
I have the exact same system and a similar problem. I know my system is not hitting as hard as it could be because when I first got it certain songs had stronger base. Also, every once in a while for either a song or less the bass will hit real hard then fall back to be lacking again. any ideas
