Would the 12" alpine type r in a ported 2.0 cu ft box with 500-600 rms watts going to it even compare with an 05 12" kicker l5 in a 3.0 cu ft ported box with 700-800 rms watts going to it??? Help me out, i am thinking about gettin the alpine type r.

type r would like 1000+ watts and about 2.5 cuft. tuned low 30s. should get two of them, that would sound pretty good.

i want to add another sub and amp and i already have the kicker l5 with the audiobahn a8000t and i want somthin either as loud or louder than what i already have.

hard to say man, type r is a great budget sub. it really depends on the install, but with only 700 watts i don't think that you will see that big of a difference in the two.

A single 12" Type R in about 2.0cu ft with that amount of wattage will sound great. I have just about the same exact setup. 1 12" Alpine type R in a box I made (36hz @ 2cuft.) seeing around 700 watts. It pounds man. Defintly a good buy. And on a final note. I wouldn't bother with a l5. I hear they lack bigtime in the SQ department. Good luck.

yeah but he already has the L5. L5 to type r is an upgrade in sq but he is more interested in being loud. really he is going to need more power and a better up grade in subs to see a real big difference.
