alpine type r subwoofers

yeah they seem a lil stupid i have not installed them yet i am going to take ya'll advice and get a custom box built to 32hz if possible i know one thing for sure they will definetely sound better then my garbage pioneer 303r subs i started out with lol and i am 100% positive they will hit harder then the previous pioneer subs i had thats for sure lol.anothr question is it true if you turn an amps gain all the way up you will blow your sub,and what freq should i turn my amp too?,also is it safe for me to turn my loud button on my cd player or will that hurt the amp or subs?

You have to be the most hard headed person that has ever trolled here.. Just because some shop built you a "custom box" to fit your truck does not mean it will work for every sub that fits in the hole.. Those type rs like power. power you dont have and I dont think you relize what it takes to run that much power. A toyota makes it even harder, you WILL have to upgrade your electrical to properly power those subs. Im pretty sure on the power you have and your current situation the CVRs will be louder. So have fun and write a new thread to ask why your Alpines dont hit and wont pick up any low notes.
This is true i fed my single type-r 600w rms daily and it loved it. Easily it could have taken more.

if you turn your gain all the way up, youll clip the signal and blow the subs. make sure your amp is set to low pass filter (lpf) and set it according to how high you want your subs to play. I'd say about 80 at most.

Dont go back to that shop to get a box built. Have a real box builer make you one. No shop that I have ever been to could make a good box. Dave the box guy or Pro rabbit on here could build and ship to your cheaper the a shop and it WILL be better

I have an original Type-R 12", the ones rated at 500/1000 RMS/Max. I (after buying the amp) will have about 750W to feed it at 2 ohms, it's a D4, and have a crappy prefab sealed right now. The last time I had it installed was a different vehicle and it received about 400W in the sealed box and was decent, but nothing amazing. My plan is to do the amp 1500W @ 1ohm on a 15" later on, just looking to have a temp setup for the next couple months with the type-R.

If I were to port it, with SQL and low end extension in mind, what size and tuning frequency should I aim for? I was thinking 2.5ft^3 before displacement, tuned to 30Hz. On 750W, will it be too much for the sub at that size of box? And/or, any other suggestions for box size and tuning frequency?

I would go a little smaller, like 2.25, tuning at 30 is good for the lows and shoot for 32-37sq in of port area
