Alpine Type R or Infinity Reference?

I'm gonna give this another shot...

I'm looking to replace my Bazooka P Miller with something....umm...better! I've got less than $100 to spend. Something for $70 would be great. The major candidates seem to be the Infinity Reference 1230 or an Alpine Type S or Type R...

Some other possibilities:

Pioneer TS-W300R

Kicker Comp

MTX Audio Road Thunder RT12-04

Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 1 P112S4

Phoenix Gold Octane R12

Whats my best bet here? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

Yeah, the 1230w is SUPER cheap on eBay. The Type S's and PG Octanes are pretty reasonable too. Everyone seems pretty jazzed on the Type Rs, but they're a little pricey(I might go for it anyways). If I take that out of the mix is the 1230w the best bet?

Thanks!

Give the Type-Rs more than 300w RMS, they NEED it. A lot of people I know run 600w RMS to each of their Type-Rs and they can definately take more power than that. Infinity subs are a little power hungry too, but I'm not sure what's a good ammount of power for the Reference subs.

Hmm...I'm not a super thumper, so I'm only going to be throwing about 300watts RMS at it. I'm just running a single twelve in a sealed cab. Is the Type-R a bad fit for this? I really am more interested in SQ than SPL. As is I have more volume than I ever really need.

I would definately say go with the Infinity. I had 3 of the old style 1230W's with the raised dustcap off my Memphis 1000d and they were insanely loud and sounded amazingly clean. The same time I got mine my friend bought two 1030w's and ran them clam-shell isobarik in a ported box and they sounded amazingly loud for two 10's as well. I have a box with two of the new style 1030w's sitting next to me right now waiting to get installed in my friends car as soon as he gets off work.

Yes it will be perfect, as said, they can take a bt more power than 300watts, but if you are going for SQ thats pointless anyways. I threw 300 to each of mine ported and they sang, but thats ported...
