Alpine Type R burning smell

i have 2 alpine Type R with two 500watts Alpine amp here my problem sometime after about 20 min with it turned up all most all the way i will start to get this burning smell from the subs what is causing this the amp isnt even turn up all the way and the subs will start to feel hot and smell the subs are rated for 500 RMS and the amps pushes 500RMS all the way up

 
i'd vote on clipping too.

how did you set it? even if you set it halfway it doesnt matter cause halfway can be a lot

yea i think that may of been my problem with the heating up subs i turned my amp down after it started buit it still got that smell after bout 20 mins it scared the hell out of me i dont wanna burn the coils up on subs i just got they wont be covered and my low is set to 0 and everything else is adjusted right just been having this problem . .

 
That was like the mother of all run on sentences as well. What on earth are they teaching you in school these days? Learn how to set the gain properly. Your subs are going to get warm but too warm and the voicecoils are going to melt so learn to use the volume control in moderation.
