Alpine Type R burning smell

i have 2 alpine Type R with two 500watts Alpine amp here my problem sometime after about 20 min with it turned up all most all the way i will start to get this burning smell from the subs what is causing this the amp isnt even turn up all the way and the subs will start to feel hot and smell the subs are rated for 500 RMS and the amps pushes 500RMS all the way up

let me guess the gain is all the way up?? the gain knob is NOT a volume knob, it needs to be set correctly

no the gain is not all the way up the gain is only bout 60 or 70 percent just looked

how did you set it? even if you set it halfway it doesnt matter cause halfway can be a lot

no the gain is all the way up the gain is only bout 70 or 80 percent i have to look it to dark right now

problem found also turn the bass boost off

you dont set it to 70 to 80 percent. you set it to what works on your electrical. set it correctly

well i had my cd player set to xplod think that was my problem? thing is i never had a issue till recently

must be sony's name for bass boost. That should be off. EQ should all be set to 0

If your going to use the xplod setting put the low on 0

yea i think that may of been my problem with the heating up subs i turned my amp down after it started buit it still got that smell after bout 20 mins it scared the hell out of me i dont wanna burn the coils up on subs i just got they wont be covered and my low is set to 0 and everything else is adjusted right just been having this problem . .

That was like the mother of all run on sentences as well. What on earth are they teaching you in school these days? Learn how to set the gain properly. Your subs are going to get warm but too warm and the voicecoils are going to melt so learn to use the volume control in moderation.
