Alpine type R box difference?

I have one alpine Type R 12" in a 0.75 cubic ft3 box.

I want the bass to be louder still though, I heard my friends and I like it when the bass has that breathtaking feeling. It's all I am really aiming for, it brings me into the music and I like it.

With that being said, the alpine website says this subwoofer needs around 1.00-1.25 ft3 sealed according to there specs. People have told me I am actually starving my woofer of space it needs to be louder, If I made the box 1ft3 or 1.25ft3 would it be louder? and if so which one would be louder than another 1 or 1.25?

My box design was a wedged truck box for my single cab truck

Top depth 6"

Bottom depth 9"

Width 29"

height 14"

CURRENT SIZE

top depth 5"

bottom depth 7"

width 22"

height 14"

or smaller

Any input is appreciated, thank you guys!

yeah a bigger box would be louder. make sure its ported too! depending on how much power the sub is getting will effect which box will be louder between the 1 or 1.25. id go with 1.25 tho and give it recommended power. those subs can take a beating, they are almost noob proof

Is 29" as wide as you can go? Get that box wider so you can fit 2 cubes net, then go with a single 4" aeroport. You will be amazed at the difference over sealed.

But isn't a 1.25 ft3 box far too small for a port?
Yes, but I'm sure you can fot more than that behind you seats. What kind of dimensions do you have to work with for a wedge box spanning across the cab?

If you're going to stick with sealed, a larger box gives you better low-end extension, but reduces the amount of power the sub can physically handle...ie: it'll move more with the same amount of power than in the current .75ft^3 box you have now.

would 1.8 ft3

30" wide

9" bottom depth

6" top depth

20" height

3/4" mdf wood

with a 4" pvc pipe as a port coming from the top 14" long tuned to 33hz be loud and not sound bad?

And use poly fill to make up for the .2 ft3 I am missing.

Unless my math is wrong, with those dimensions you are actually looking at ~1.5ft^3 net volume (assuming you will mount the sub inverted). On the small side but it would work. Also use an aeroport instead of pvc unless you want a lot of port noise.

I ended up having to use a 3" diameter port.

According to the 12 volt calculator...

Box calculations

20" height

30" width

5.5" top depth

10.5" bottom depth

1.98ft3 with polyfill

3" diameter port

7" long port

this should work fairly well with alpine mrp-m500 amp with type r 12?
