Has anyone had any experience with the Alpine Type X? When I was originally looking into subs, I wanted one... but IIRC, they stopped producing them. Were they any good?

2 alpine type x's sealed on 2200 rms would eat type r's ported on same power in every aspect except output. Heard it side by side.

Personally have not heard any Q's. Ive hear both the X and IDQ side by side in my local audio shop pretty close. What type of music will be playing?

Type X's get LOOOOOOOOWWWWWW as hell, are not very loud though, and sound very, very good.

My ID Max sounded just as good as the X, if not a little better, and was quite a bit louder.

My Q was not as good sounding as either, but was the loudest.

Type R, if you like SQ, don't think about it. At all. When I first got my Q I was pissed listening to music - the bass lines actually sounded different, I could differentiate instead of just hearing BANG BANG BANG BANG.

Don't get me wrong, the Q is a good sounding sub, but IMO the Type X and the ID Max are just on a different level.

ID Max is $450 brand new, I picked up my pair for $350 shipped (crazy deal), and they typically go for around $200ish +/inc shipping in the classifieds, or at least recently.

Hmm. I'm broke ATM, so I'm just planning things out.

I was thinking about getting a single 12" Q with BP option... but I'm thinking about getting a 12" or 10" IDMax now. Purely based on the fact that I hate bandwagons.

That must've been ridiculous. I installed 2 RF P3's off 1K Watts, with a pair of RSD's, and dear god... I hated it. I don't really understand how people like that. Where it's just "BOOOOOOOOOOOOM" and you're just left with one lingering question...
