they sound pretty decent ported, actually...

just don't expect to get TOO much output out of the poor thing...

ive never been a fan of em. In that price range, I'd rather have something like a Kicker comp, MTX 4500 or JL W0. Especially the comp. They'll hammer in a ported enclosure if it's big enough.

Type E's in a ported enclosure was my first setup and they sounded good for what i payed...

i dont think mine sounds all that great to be honest.. i dont have much control over my xover settings because of an old school amp.. but regardless it doesnt sound great imo.. ok sure, but not good.

on the spl hand, i say quite the opposite. im giving mine 400 watts or so and it wangs way harder than i expected it to.. i expect pretty shoddy spl.. and i got pretty solid spl.
