Nope. They both make some really good ones and some bad ones. Pioneer and Alpine make a very wide range of products. From cheap all the way up to high-end. What brand you like will depend on your tastes. Personally I've always found that Pioneer gives you more for your money. Where as Alpine makes you go up to the more expensive models to get the features that Pioneer puts in it's cheaper models. But don't take my word for it, I'm biased toward Pioneer as I have their (USA) flagship unit.

I love the way pioneer hu's look. They have the best design imo. Not saying that's all that matters but I personally like looking at the dash and seeing a sleek looking HU in there. I do want to try alpine out though. I'm looking into getting one of the digital media reciever things because I don't even use cd's anymore.

I always like pioneer and the past few years i have been switching it up using jvc, clarion, panasonic, etc. I just havent tried alpine yet.The alpine I looked at looked really good to me but if I am going to get one here is what I have narrowed it down to.

oh i understand, but mines is mint, and cant find it anymore, it has time alignment, hi 5v preouts, color oel screen, insane graphics and screen savers, really powerful unit. retail was over 400.

I used to have one like yours. It wasnt the premier but i was irritating cause everytime you switch tracks it beeped really loud. How mint is yours?

I'm an Alpine man myself, but as of lately, I'm been really fond of Eclipse units. I think they are like a mix of the two.

mines does not make the beeping noise, never did, just when you switch sources, or turn it on and off, but i know what you mean.

and mint as in only 3 hairline scratched, meaning you cant see them unless your staring at it in bright light and in an angle.
