Alpine IMPRINT MultEQ for CDA-9887 Problems

Yes, I selected the driver seat. Positioned it all 6 times too. I can try less, but that doesn't seem right. Not critiquing you, just saying that they should have designed it better if somehow less is more(even though the manual says otherwise).

I just mean take another set of readings using only the front two seats and maybe the center of the back seat as I believe that's the order it goes. This MAY focus the soundstage up front. Its not a perfect system by any means.

The way it had me tune was:

1. Front driver seat head

2. Back seat middle(I have a 350z, so there's not really a backseat... just placed it in the middle of the rear headspace behind me)

3. Passenger seat head

4. Driver front left corner of the seat

5. Driver front right corner of the seat

6. Driver middle of right side of seat

Very odd calibration, but I would have thought if I did so much calibration on the driver that it would have gotten better sound to... THE DRIVER! lol

They can be touchy. I have played with mine since it first came out. It's a great tool but only if you understand it's limits and how to trick it. What are you running for source material after using the tuning. Ipod doesn't getting the help from media xpander anymore with the multi eq enabled so if you didn't rip your music in apple lossless, (you pay for music right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ?) you will notice a decrease in your sound due to all that is lost in ripping to low quality mp3s. Also if you turn down your gains slightly from where they are normally set during the tuning process and then back up afterwards you will see an improvement. Same goes for subs with the imprint tuning. Like I said it's a great tool but can be tricky to get to do what you want it to some times. I'm currently running an audiocontrol eq after my active imprint set up so I have the ability to fine tune mine for sound quality in Usaci. The imprint saves me a lot of time by getting it close though.

Source material is really just CD at the moment. I haven't had the time to get to the store to buy the iPod cable, which I think I'll do today actually.

If I were to go and retune it, what advice would you offer or how would you recommend I do it?
