Alpine F1

i appreciate all the input you guys have. Lets pretend that you do have the money to buy the f1, would you?
i have the money but i chose not to. i felt that the only reason i'd get cause it was f1, not because i'd get better sq. so i didn't think the extra 2g (minus selling my w200/h701 combo) would be worth just to have f1. but thats just me.

Personally, I wouldn't and I do have the money to get it if that is what I really wanted.

The question you have to ask yourself is this : How much value can I extract from this setup? Can I take advantage of all it's capabilities and resources?

If the answer is no much and no...then you shouldn't buy it.

If you don't have the installation capabilities to bring out what is so good about the F1, then it would probably be a waste of money.

Personally, I

I am big on maximizing value....I reccomend selecting gear you think you would be best able to get that value out of. For me, it was equipment that was easy/forgiving to install. It is equipment that would sound great in so-so installs. Could others do better with my budget, I have no doubt. But when selecting equipment, match up your level of skill (instead of an arbitrary budget) with the level of equipment and I think you will be much happier.

I feel the same way. I would get it because its F1, rarity, hence the creation of this thread, is it really worth it?

Very well put...

the w205/h701 combo?

It's a good combo.

It has good resale value in case you don't like it....people are usually willing to swing the amount of that combo...pretty good demand.

The f#1 on the other hand, has a big loss in resale value, the demand for it simply isn't there.

I **think** it has navigation as well. (I haven't really looked into it).

It took me about a thousand wasted dollars to get where I am today.
another reason that I am considering buying the F1, if I buy less, and want more later, I just waste money. If I buy the F1, I have the "best" and dont need to waste more and more money getting to eventually the same point, buying the F1 lol

Do you ever think you will be able to get full use out of it?

I did that when I bought my Cal27 tweeters. It is the only car audio item I have never considered replacing.

Sometimes, I would like to get a simpler deck with the arc crossover/eq kit. If I had it to do all over again, that is what I would do.

the arc DXE? I had considered that route too, if I did got that route, i still need video playback, which would run just about 1000 dollars, then the DXE for brand new is at least 1100, puts me in the range of the F1

what do you mean worth it? in terms of "sq" probably not but in terms of build quality and having the opportunity own such high end equipment? thats up to you to decide.

also nope, you have add navi to the f1, which cost another $1200 or so. i'd just get the w205/h701/bb2, then you'd be good for a while.

Navi, although beneficial, not a selling point really, this vehicle will not be driven on long road trips, so I dont need something telling me where to go lol
