whats up guys i recently got an alphasonik PMA600HCA for free but only one channel works. I can tell because if i hook up two subs stereo, one is louder than the other. If i unplug the left RCA there is no change but if i unplug the right channel and leave the left on there is no sound. i was thinking of taking it to an amp shop to get it fixed but is this amp worth it? i heard its 550W @ 2 ohms but i havent been able to find if this is RMS or MAX wattage anyone have experience with these amps? is it worth it? im gonna push 2 alpine SWS 1042D sealed. all input appreciated.

# 300 Watts x 2 @ 4 ohms Stereo

# 550 Watts x 2 @ 2 ohms Stereo

# 900 Watts x 2 @ 1 ohms Stereo

# 1800 Watts x 1 @ 1 ohm Mono

Its hard to say if repair is worth it without knowing what repair costs will be. Personally i haven't had great experience with repaired amps, and consequently would usually prefer to just buy a new amp. But if the fix is only like 50$ id probably have it repaired.

So anyone know if these are RMS or MAX specs?

And don't listen top anyone who says the amp aren't any good.......same boards as MA and many others....
Being an MA/AB clone is more of a reason to confirm its lowish quality than say it is somehow high quality.

Being that it requires 4 ga power wire would indicate to me it's not going to do 1800w. I think 1000-1200 would be a realistic expectation -- anything beyond that is just a bonus.

I don't have personal experience with the amp, but the "HC" craze died about 5 years ago, and the companies that are still trying to sell it are lost IMO. My guess is they lack the design capability, or investment to come up with something using modern technology that is high quality so they're selling the stuff they put out 5 years ago -- just putting it in a pretty chrome chassis.

A few reviews point out that it doesn't like 1 ohm, so even TRYING to get advertized power out of it may lead to thermal/overcurrent problems.

I've got a Alphasonik PMA-5753 that runs my complete system with a 8W7 just fine. I couldn't be more happy. I don't know about paying much to have it repaired though, since the company went bankrupt you can find pretty good deals on the amps. I wouldn't waste time and money trying to repair what i had. I could go out and buy a another amp for around 200. Whereas a shop is gonna charge you atleast 50 bucks to take a look at it, and then even more to attempt at repairing it.
