almost done with the install...

Its a 2000 Honda Accord 2dr EX 6cyl with all the options, bought at a dealer about 50 minutes from home and in a different state.

I was at a local bar watching a friend's band play and inbetween songs the dj guy announced that someone was up front looking for someone who owned a car that fit my cars description. Turns out it was the previous owner. He lives in my town, funny that I went kinda far away to buy it.. Anyways, starts to tell me everything he had done to the car... alot of it was stripped out when he traded it in (kid on the way, he bought a minivan). Anyways, its already been dynamatted, he had kick panels and a custom sub box (that I bought from him). He also had the 3 infinity perfect 10" subs that I picked up last night.

I bought a new headunit (eclipse cda8445), So I got that in, plus I bought some new amps. I bought an Alpine 600rmsx1(2ohm) monoblock sub amp as well as a Alpine 4x100rms amp. I've built a plexiglass amp rack for those.

Being that i just got the cash to finally buy the subs off of him, I've been able to kinda throw everything together (still rough around the edges), but I' finally getting an idea of what this install of mine is going to turn out like...

granted, im probably going to recut the trunk pieces that go around the box and use new carpet, and im also in the process of making a trim piece for the amp rack for behind the seat... (to cover alot of wires, where the plexiglass stops, etc)... I'm also cutting another plexiglass piece for on top of the amps, which is what the red blocks are for on the amp rack..

#1. Those tweeters are very poorly aimed, are your ears under the dash !?!?

How's the imaging on the front stage? It sure looks like it's pointed at your feet instead of you.

box was custom tuned to the subs....

the front sound stage is really good, surprisingly... i asked myself the same thing when i put the kicks in, how is this stuff aimed and how is it going to sound... i like the sound stage... I am planning on moving to a 3way component set instead of the 2way... and at that point, I might break those kicks up, mess with how things are aimed, somehow put them back together and wrap them in matching vinyl...

Q's. They were awfully flimsy when I got them, so I bought some dynamat and put two layers of it on the inside of the kicks. Now they are very rigid and probably weight 5x's what they did before

they way the car is, to get the speakers under the dash to have a direct view of the ear, they would have to be put in a real awkward position, and the drivers side wouldn't have room because of the pedals and such... I don't know how much thought they put into how the speakers were aimed when they designed the kicks, but all in all, the staging is pretty good. as i said in a recent post, I could use more output, but im pushing my focals to the max, so im planning on just getting a 3way set with a 6.5, 5, and tweet, and bridging the 4channel amp I have and pushing the components off that, instead of doing 4x100 and pushing the 6x9's on the amp (which does mess with staging!), im going to push the 6x9's off the HU and use the amp for the front stage.

I've got about that much going to mine (see sig) and while its loud and clear, its definately not like ZOMGBBQDEFLEPPARDCRAZY loud....

i didnt make it so i dunno you might be right. but its sounds pretty f'n good.

the guy said he wishes the port was about an 1/8 of an inch longer .....
