All this wood means its building time...

What makes birch plywood so special? Only the outside layer is actually birch, and its so thin. Is this true?
Some one please elaborate. I am confused.

It looks nice, but is it any better for SQ.
Its alote lighter then MDF

It's lighter and just as strong (if not stronger than) as MDF.

Plus it looks nice when you stain it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif A lot more unique than a plain carpeted box.

well you didn't say anything about splitting or drilling in your first post.

you said splintering, so i thought you meant it splintered on the edges when you made a cut...

all mdf splits when you drill too close to an edge...
So...pre-drill and dont screw so close to the edge? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ponder.gif.ec2527b23f1d287b60dcbba54f95edba.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif

What is the difference between regular spruce or fir plywood and birch plywood in terms of SQ?
