All my stuff was just jacked from my 2000 Grand prix 2 days ago. I lost head unit, external EQ/xover, 3 amps (JL 500/1, older Halfer and Profile) and 2 JL Audio 10w6v2's in a custom "Mr Marv" enclosure. Bummer.

After new system installed, I am going to get an alarm..but dont want to break the bank. I want something that will be worthwile....but I dont need alot of bells and whistles (figuratively speaking). any recommendations?

Guy at shop where i "might" get work done is recommending a Compustar 2-way...but its over $600 installed. no way.

A lot of people say Viper, if I got an alarm I would probably go with them. A pager is a must, though. I want to see the look on the guys face when he sees me full-speed coming at him in the parking lot because I saw something he liked.

I'm sure it IS a good alarm...and too expensive. I'm puttting out some coin to replace what was stolen. (after deductable..insurance wont cover everything). I figure I can do about $250-300 for an alarm...

BTW, the guy says that he sells Viper but wont sell thier 2 way systems as they are no good.

if you get a cheap alarm, theives will be able to get around it easy. FALSE ECONOMY mean anything to you? buy an excellent alarm and have it instaled properly, then you get to keep your gear.yes its going to cost you about $600 for the alarm, but you already lost $$$$ getting jacked, and if you buy more gear and it gets jacked again you into it for double your $$$$$$$$$$$$$,

BUY A GOOD ALARM NOT A CHEAPASS ONE!

Yeah and they go through this company that will give you this year's model of whatever you had or you can upgrade if you want to spend more money through that company or you can just cash out and buy whatever you want.

I'm just wondering if there are any 2 ways that are good that ARENT $600....
Jeff -

The Compustar FM model(s) are a cheaper alternaitve...they just use a different frequency than the Spread Spectrum.

My 2WSS has been pretty solid for me. It's nice to have nice warm and toasty car waiting for you when it's -20 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I would recommend giving Ben at Transportation Electronics in Hopkins a call and see what he can do for you...952-933-7357
