And for the record... I did recommend a flat wall over a 4th given the same cone area //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif however 8 15s is more than can be fit properly in a flat wall in his vehicle due to baffle size. The cone area alone should justify going with a 4th. A 6th would be nice but it would be near impossible, if not impossible, to get enough space. The 4th is already a tight fit

 
Yep, you did. I don't just want to do another flat wall though. Really want to try a 4th and it should fit, if barely.

No way I could fit a true 6th and tune as low as I'd like without sacrificing output and/or bandwidth.

Did you break in the sub? You haven't had it very long at all. Also being tuned at 35 you will experience lots of low end rolloff - you should try a different box and breaking it in before giving up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif




Im glad you do realize that bl^2/re/mms gives you a good idea of the motor strength per mass. Don't forget you mechanical losses ; )

Years ago I pointed this out. I do like the design you have for a high out build but 1w1m isn't the end all its derived at 1000hz But I definitely agree keeping mms in check is a MUST.

Simply put every design has its flaws.

Sure they use a lot of cone are. The drivers on the market are terribly inefficent. 10 years ago a friend had 6 ed e 12s and 2 JBL 1200s doing mid 150s daily. Some little 2" coil woofers and maybe 2k clampped..

Too little power won't smoke a sub...a clipped to hell signal from not setting the gain right can though...

1k is iabout the upper end running off stock electrical...and if you don't have the available power for your amp then it really won't hit rated...
