Alarm LED's

I've been debating on an alarm for the truck. Part of the debate is that no one listens to them anyway. So, I was thinking. Maybe I could just setup flashing LED(s) to look like it's got an alarm. No, not the stupid looking ones you see at Autozone, but something that looks realistic. Anyone done this or have any ideas on it?

yes. i have actually. i used a standerd led from an alarm, hooked it through a 555 timer, and a restior to get the correct voltage to it., and had a switch to turn it on when i wanted.
