alarm experts HELP!

ok so i bought a 1988 gmc jimmy for 700 bucks about 2 months ago and was wanting to redo the whole thing. well i rewired the whole audio system (speaker wires to both doors, the dash, and the back speakers) also did the pos. and neg. from the battery to the radio.

SOMEHOW i guess i managed to trip the killswitch. yea this 21 year old car had an alarm system on it for some reason. anyways now it wont even turn over cuz the killswitch, how do i find the kill switch or take the **** alarm out so i can start it????

im guessing you disconnected the battery and re connected causing this problem... anyway, just disconnect power to the alarms brain..

yes i did disconeect and reconnect the battery. why would that trip the brain though? also its very hard to get to the brain under the steering wheel, and i dont see a direct wire going to the main battery. any other way of cutting the brains wire?

im not really sure why alarms do that (my truck does that) but if you want to disconnect the brain, look for a hot wire (12v constant), its usually red, tapping into the fuse panel. That is where most people connect to (especially since yours is right next to it).. if you cant find the hot lead for the alarm brain you might have to get under the steering wheel

ok so i took the brain down. i saw that it had 2 fuses in the harness coming into the brain so ittok both of the fuses out. did nothing. and taking a fuse out would be like cutting the power to it if that didnt do it, i dont think cutting would do it. and im not even 100% sure that the thing im messing with is the alarm brain. its such a PITA having alarms

I hope my truck doesnt do it when i change out batteries and such, I have a 2001 F-150 with a viper 5900

thats the thing. the brain has no info or words on it. it has a harness of ike 10 wires coming in and then all by itself it has 1 black wire coming outta it.

its not the batteries. the alarm is on birdshit mode anyways so it should go off when i open the door. remote batteries dont make the whole alarm not work does it?
