akai flat screen

there is a big problem with any product that you only get 2-5 years out of.... specially an hdtv... no matter what brand they shouldnt go to shit in a year or two... obviously some brands are better then others but unless its abused no tv should only last for 2 years... those numbers are rather lopsided....
Ok, well I have done some searching and it seems that most people start having issues with Akai TVs after about 3-5 years.

$800/3 years = ~$266.67 per year

$800/5 years = ~$160 per year

So,

Assuming that a higher quality TV will last it's average life (60,000 hours about 27 years but we will make it lower for a real estimate) of lets say 12 years. I am pretty confident in the reliability of Pioneer Equipment so lets say a Pioneer Plasma.

$2200/ 8 years = $275 per year.

$2200/12 years = $183.33 per year.

Plus the Pioneer is going to have a superior picture quality. Also, if you do have a problem you can usually find someone to fix Pioneers, I am not sure the last time I saw anywhere that fixed Akai (mostly because they are a throw away piece).

However, if yours does last a long time then you have made a super deal and I can't argue with that. But, personally almost every time I have purchased a piece of electronic equipment because of it's price, it has bit me in the *** hard. Either though sup par quality or sub par reliability...

Do what you want and think I sit on my high horse or whatever those are just my 2 cents...

had it for 3 years. it's been moved alot. it's been a decent tv.
3 years is pretty unacceptable out of a TV, cheap or not... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I actually need more subs.. its cool for the room its in now but it wont be enough later.
I think that is too small for a projector...

But if you like it go for it...

Just post pictures... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If I think about it I have plenty of room for a second sub, one on the left side of the screen and one on the right.... Time to sell my tc and get a pair of FI q //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and a second ep 2500 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sams club sells the 42" 1080p Akai for $560 so i hope it is at least a few months old cause if not you got ripped off
as joetama quoted, i have had it for 3 years, and i stated in post #1, it is a projection (rear) tv. reading before you post is usually critical to making an intelligent statement. i'd like to add that the tv still works. it just has some minor imperfections in the picture that some could actually live with. it's extremely annoying to me.

ya i guess it is, but i couldnt cause i was too busy laughing at you for being stupid enough to buy a ****ing AKAI tv and then wonder why it was broken

good luck i will go be unintelligent elsewhere

oh, anyway you can get a new one for cheap, but akai sucks
another one with a distorted view on economics. people buy what they can afford at the present time. akai is a cheaper brand sold to people who want modern technology at a cheaper price. i, like many working people (this means people who get their clothes dirty at their job), want modern technology, but can't pay top dollar. consequently, we're forced to wait, or buy things that, as you so eloquently put it, "****". when these things break, we try to fix it before buying, or financing, new "things that ****". point of this thread.

you don't have to go, you just are.

I don't understand why you think that we are unintelligent because we 'don't get our cloths dirty', wouldn't it be the other way around. Anyway, I work my *** off for the things that I have, I always have this includes sometimes getting my cloths dirty. I am pretty proud of that and the things that I have done. But, see I must not be intelligent enough and not understand with my distorted view of economics how to save the money that I earn and use it to the maximum... Yep I don't understand that stuff that is why I can afford to buy expensive stuff. (that doesn't make sense does it? Post again when you figure you why.)

Well, the world needs ditch diggers too...

My grandfather always told me, never buy something you can't afford and never buy something because it's on sale.

Point being if you really need it or it is a high enough quality product you don't need it to be on sale to want to buy it. Never buy something you can't afford is pretty obvious, not everyone needs to have a HDTV yet.

SO, a new moral of the story: If you can't afford the product you want don't buy something similar but cheaper because you are just waisting you money. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

College students may be the exception of this, because if you know something is going to or could be trashed then don't buy the best one on the market...

are you even able to comprehend your own BS? i was referring to people who get their clothes dirty at work as not being rich. that quote from me was directed at scoobydoo for his ignorance. reading comprehension > you.

"reading comprehension > you" is the best come back you have of all time...

Seen you use it many times before...

Come up with a new one to entertain us please... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i do use that format often. much like your "moral of the story" lines, Esop.
