[QUOTE="joetama, post: 3244848, member: 564641"] Ok, well I have done some searching and it seems that most people start having issues with Akai TVs after about 3-5 years. $800/3 years = ~$266.67 per year $800/5 years = ~$160 per year So, Assuming that a higher quality TV will last it's average life (60,000 hours about 27 years but we will make it lower for a real estimate) of lets say 12 years. I am pretty confident in the reliability of Pioneer Equipment so lets say a Pioneer Plasma. $2200/ 8 years = $275 per year. $2200/12 years = $183.33 per year. Plus the Pioneer is going to have a superior picture quality. Also, if you do have a problem you can usually find someone to fix Pioneers, I am not sure the last time I saw anywhere that fixed Akai (mostly because they are a throw away piece). However, if yours does last a long time then you have made a super deal and I can't argue with that. But, personally almost every time I have purchased a piece of electronic equipment because of it's price, it has bit me in the *** hard. Either though sup par quality or sub par reliability... Do what you want and think I sit on my high horse or whatever those are just my 2 cents... 3 years is pretty unacceptable out of a TV, cheap or not...
