Aiwa Mute problem

I've recently acquired a Aiwa CDC-X227 from a friend. We swapped cause he needed my pioneer head unit. Anyway, after I installed the Aiwa unit I turn it on and it appears to play the cd and radio, but I can't hear anything. In the bottom right hand corner of the screen, "MUTE" is flashing and in the top left hand corner of the head unit above the Right seek button, and on the left of the power button the word "MUTE" is wrote but it's not a button. I've reset the radio, I've rechecked all the wires, and I've tried to go through all the menus to see if there is a mute option but I can't turn it off. How to do I get MUTE off?????? Thanks guys

I held it with the radio on andit just forwards the song (on CD) or the station (on radio). When it's off I held it for like 1 min straight and nothing happened. What else can I do? I'm tired of no music. Thanks

trade him back..is there a remote for the HU that has a mute/ATT button?

Well, I don't think there is a remote. At least he didn't give me one. I think I'm gonna end up calling him and telling him to come fix it or bring mine back. Thanks guys, if anyone can think of anything else it would be greatly appreciated.

just a guess but... pull the radio out... that light blue wire that is not taped up and either touching metal somewhere or grounded... cut it and tape it up... aiwa's and sony's have a light blue mute wire in the harness... don't leave wires exposed :p

Well, I got the flashing MUTE thing fixed but I still have no sound. I don' t know what to do. It was the mute wire problem, so I taped it up and it stopped flashing but still no sound. I have a 1999 Mustang with the MACH 460 system if anyone can give me advice. I had a aftermarket radio before this one and it worked fine. It's beyond me what's wrong. It's probably something simple. I had to buy some kind of box a while back so my stock amps didn't just shut off when I took the stock stereo out. So I have that. IDK what to do next. Thanks guys.

k now... hook the blue/white wire from the radio to the blue/white wire on the harness for the car... that should turn the amps on... if that doesn't work... splice the red wire into the blue/white going to the car... i've seen a few aiwa radios that the remote wire have been damaged and will not send 12v out anymore

Do yourself a favor and rip it out of your dash and give it a good punt...save some time in the long run... better yet find your buddy you got it from and throw it at the back of his head.

hey guys the remote wire thing was the problem. I tied it into the red wire and VIOLA!! Music in the Mustang. LOL Thanks alot guys. I want my old Pioneer back though. I don't like this Aiwa. It sounds like crap. Thanks guys
