ah i broke somthing..need help

so im driving up the interstate bumping my music the other day, and it stops..and i'm like okay wtf. i havent had any problems and all of a sudden. my car also smells really bad. I stop somewhere and determine that the sub amp is blown. I take it out and send it out to kicker.

now my problem is, on my 880PRS, when i turn the volume to past 35 which is cranked, it gets all staticy and distorted, which NEVER happens. I had the same thing happen when my orion hcca5000 blew, and i just grounded the radio to the - on the RCA going to my speaker amp, or i think thats how i did it.

what else can i check for?

a wire ground out to something , a wire to to shorting out another wire , check all your grounds again to make sure.
