agu fuse question

I am running a amp that adds up to 60 and a 8gauge wire. I will soon be running a viper amp that adds anoterh 25 amp fuse for it. so total about 85. Right now I have a 100 AGU fuse to my power wire. Would that be ok? Another question how much does it cost to repair a blown transistor on a amp?

You need to upgrade your power wire. 100 amps is too large a fuse for 8-gauge wire; a 60 amp fuse would be a safer choice.

Actually, I've never seen a 100 amp AGU fuse. Are you sure that's correct? Normally they aren't made above 80 amps.

Correct-o.

AGU only goes up to 80a. 8 Gauge is only rated for 80 amp draw. You need to upgrade to 4awg and use a different type of fuse. ATC/KF/AFS go up to 150a.

The 100A AGU are out there, but most companies do not offer them - the thermal spec for that fuse type may be exceeded with 100A. Also 8 Gauge is good for 50A @17ft If you have a short run, you can slide on that, but @17ft you want 4 gauge for 60-100A Maxi fuses are offered at 100A as are the Mini-ANL/MIDI/KF/AFC - that fuse has more abbreviations then any other size for some reason........
