Against JL audio?

Is what I said about the JL amp pushin out @ 1250 sound right?
it really depends, because it has such a widely variable gain it can be made to push WAY more than it's conservative rating, and not clip much doing it much more than some amps, some amps start clipping right at their rated power or before it...

besides that the regulated power supply, gives the amp a much more consistent output, where some amps kinda die out as the power gets lower, the jl amps keep the same output or cut off...

they have low levels of distortion... much lower than most (even though the diffference is pretty much inaudible... and it has far greater control over equalizers and other settings than most amps

not to mention the durability, and reputation of JL

there are a few that compare to it, jbl makes one very similar

JL is $ but not really when you compare them to the NON internet companies

look at Zapco, Kicker, Focal, Mac et etc, theyre very $ too

so yah, JL is $$$ if you compare them to eD, SunDown or Cadences outlet prices etc etc

Is that the same type of power supply that the Xtant amps have??

.
Therefore a moot point. I would take my older Premier PRS amps over JL anyday of the week especially with the price of the PRS much lower and power is just as good.

and it has far greater control over equalizers and other settings than most amps
I have NO idea what this is supposed to mean. How does an amp control an equalizer?? Especially when an amp is after the EQ in the signal chain.

Don't get me wrong JL makes some rock solid amps but again as already stated: The value of these amps are NOT very good.

that power supply they have makes them ungodly ineffecient. thats a big reason alot of people dont run them either. effeciency is a good thing to have when dealing with 1000+ watts

I jus dont like how that someone goes to a shop gets all JL equipment installled and from that point on they think JL is the best and that it cant be beat. They do make good stuff. I like how they put out the same power 1-4ohms, makes it easier when purchasing subs.

It's range of input sensitivity ("widely variable gain") has nothing to do with it's ability to output more than rated power or at what level it clips.

JL is far from the only company to offer a tightly regulated power supply.

Huh?

The reason I ask is because I use to have a Memphis 1000D goin to 4 12" W0s, and then changed from that and ran a JL 500/1, and this blew the Memphis away. I now run the 2 12" Memphis M3s,and 2 JL 500/1 and pretty much at the peak of what I can run. I am going to be looking for an upgrade of subs soon....Any suggestions? I prefer the Memphis line subs because of the amount of abuse they can take, but open for all suggestions?

Please not its for the trunk of an 05 Volvo S40.

Thanks

i've had the jl w6v2...one of the cleanest sounding subs i've ever heard....the only downfall i had with the sub was not enough output from it cause i had the 10 inch.....but normal listening levels were very enjoyable....oh yeah...price is an issue for most people too....
