Aftermarket Voltage Regulator

I've been chatting with another forum member about the Kinetik batteries and the like (I have an HC2000, he has an HC1800). He mentioned looking into using a Missing Link Audio voltage module. Has anyone had any experience with this company and their product? Pros? Cons?

Steve Meade runs one on his tahoe.There have been a few people on here that have used them with promising results.It does not give you full regulation of the alt though.MLA just changes the factory setting to what you chose using there interface module.

Yeah, I actually checked out Steve's site...so the MLA allows you to choose what voltage you want and then simply overrides the PCM and ensures the voltage selected remains constant?

They are application dependent. So it all depends on the application. Mine for my duals gives me a 15.3v charge. They are great modules in my opinions.

Does charging at such a high voltage shorten the life span of the alt.?

From what I have been able to find out, no, it shouldn't affect the alternator. My stock alternator and the voltage regulation can vary between 15.5 volts and 11.5 volts...so quite a wide range. I would like to keep it at the upper level and the module is the only way I can think of doing it as the PCM will otherwise take over and determine the voltage based on draw and temperature.
