I'm wanting to replace the stock head unit in my 09 civic. But from the dealership, I have. 4 year bumper-to-bumper warranty. Now I'm wanting to know if taking out the stock head unit will void my entire warranty? I'm still waiting on a call back from the dealership about it. And just a notice, I didn't buy the car from a Honda dealership. It was a ford dealership.

do not worry about what anyone on here tells you.. wait to hear from the place u got car from.. and just cuz its a honda bought from ford dosent matter.. if you received a b2b warranty with purchase dosent matter were u bought the car

PS - i still got that awesome eclipse SQ amp for ya... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Haha, still gotta pick up an awesome HU once I get this warranty thing cleared.

Get you're warranty papers and read through it. Just cause Joe Bloe says something and works at the dealership, when shit hits the fan, you gotta know what's what, regardless of whatever dude says.

Best thing to do is call the company the warranty is through... 99% of all dealer ships use outside warranty companies.

most of the time tho you have to have any equipment installed at a shop or something and have papers showing it was etc.. etc..

No. No matter what the warranty says, changing out aftermarket equipment does not void the warranty UNLESS the aftermarket equipment is the direct result of the issue you are wishing to get warrantied. Read the Magnuson-Moss Act.

Well that was an interesting read but it said nothing pertaining to any aftermarket mods and the vehicle still being covered under warranty, and to my knowledge any modifications or lack of scheduled maint. voids a warranty at least it did a while back in a friend of mines case.

Well I have been schooled! Thanks that actually was very informative! Also sounds like my friend got a nice dry f%$k by the dealership those many years ago, funny thin is it was an engine problem he went in for and they refused to cover it due to the weak stereo he had installed, we where all younger and google wasn't just a cell phone away sadly(for him at least)

Yea, I can't tell you the amount of times I have customers coming in saying that the dealer said if they get this or that they won't have a warranty, then I'll have to explain that to them.

It's sad that the dealerships are either ill-informed or straight up defrauding people.

Or the OP could end up like I did... I purchased my 2006 Mustang GT used through a Dodge dealership, and the third party company that I purchased my extended warranty through ended up going bankrupt at the end of 2008. After that fiasco, I'll NEVER buy an extended warranty through a third party again! I know some will say that buying the warranty was a waste, but 1. It was a Ford product and 2. It was a used Ford product. My prior experience with owning fords up to that point was that all kinds of small parts will break over the period of owning the car. I was right, the Mehstang was no exception and it ticked me off when I had my first problem only to call the warranty company and find out that their number was no longer in service... Lesson learned!
