Aftermarket Deck with Factory Amplified System

Another thing you might do is go to Best Buy or a shop, and use the "select your vehicle" program they have there.

It showed me the exact harnesses my ride required.

The large, rectangular plug has all your speaker wires and the main power/ground wire. You should be able to connect your head unit's speaker outputs directly to the speaker wires in the rectangular plug.

The large square plug will have a lot of factory wires, but none of them are required for the aftermarket head unit unless you have a power antenna.

The small square plug is an 8-pin plug, but if you look at the factory plug you'll probably see only four wires in it. 2 are signal wires; one is the factory amp turn-on wire and the other is a ground wire for the cable shielding going to the factory amp. This is only for the factory subwoofer. You'll want to match up the 4 wires in the harness to the 4 wires in the factory plug; connect the amp turn-on wire to your head unit's remote output; tie the amp ground in with the main ground wire; and solder an RCA plug onto the signal wires. You'll connect that to your head unit's subwoofer output.

So, really the hardest part is just soldering the RCA's to the correct wires?

I wasn't aware of having to solder RCA's if I wasn't going to use the harness.

Maybe I will just save the hassle and buy the harness.

I would definitely buy the harness (I usually use a Metra 70-5700). If you want to integrate the factory subwoofer, then you'll need to solder a single RCA plug onto the harness to plug into your head unit's subwoofer output. If you want, you can just buy some old-style speaker wire with RCA ends, then cut an end off with enough wire to connect to the harness. It's much easier to do it on a harness than on stock wiring, since you can do it on a work bench and your wires will be identified for you.

Well, I bought the Best Kits & Harness from HiFiSound on eBay. It's the BHA-5800 model. It's what they recommend for my year.

Here's the eBay link if you can still access it...

All I needed was the little plug which has the RCA's. However, it doesn't fit any of the remaining connectors (there are three total). Actually, the other connector which came with the kit for the main wires, doesn't even fit either but I already have the harness for that.

So, this kit from Best Kits & Harness doesn't do me any good!

Any ideas?
