After 2 years with my 9813 I'm in the market for a H/U again...

Most of you guys know that I don't start threads or ask many questions, but now I am asking for some opinions from those of you that change your gear more often than your clothes.

I finally broke down and got an iPod and I want to use it in my car. My 9813 is too old to make use of the Alpine iPod integration maodule and FM modulators are poo, so I want a new HU.

My list of demands:

The unit MUST have:

-XM capability-I have an XM subscription and car tuner module and I can't live without it

-iPod direct input or the capability to integrate without an FM modulator, otherwise, why upgrade from what I have

-integrated x-over with variable freqs, not just a few select freqs but 1/3 oct freqs

-time correction

-mp3, WMA CD compatabilty

My list of desires:

I would like the unit to have some or all of the following but these aren't deal breakers:

-non clipping outputs

-3+ band parametric EQ

-ATRAC and mem stick comp.

Any inputs?

could run your ipod through your aux. inputs. so you have the xm plug n play? that would lso run through aux. inputs. i would look into eclipse. i like the older models like the 8443/8053/8454

I'd probably let it go for around $150. Have the remote and faceplate case. Looks brand new. Won't be doing anything until June when I get back from this deployment.

Was looking at Eclipse, but they are all Sirius compatible, not XM. Is it just me or is the Eclipse website useless as far as info on different actual models?

I wouldn't be opposed to an indash monitor, but I don't plan on doing any kind of video stuff, I'm usually the only one in the car and I don't plan on watching movies while driving and I don't need a Nav system. Hard to justify the cost with that in mind.

Any other ideas? Any other experience with the newer Pioneer or clarion stuff? How are the newer Alpine units? I've got nothing but glowing praise for my 9813, are the new ones at least as good?

my friend has the ipod connector on his 9813 and works fine. i believe it works on some older ainet models as well.

my next choice behind eclipse would be clarion. my dxz745 was nice but didn't offer much in terms of an eq.

That's good to know. It might just solve my problems and save me the trouble of setting up a new HU the way I want it. I was assuming that it wouldn't work because it was not listed as a compatible unit in the KCA-420i's manual, but if it will...

I don't have a clue if your 9813 has Ai-Net connection, but if it does...why not try this?

For less than $30 its worth a shot if you have Ai-Net.

Yeah, the 9813 is AInet. I currently have my XM run through the 'net but the XM interface module has an aux connector for adding a second AI net device. The one you linked to would work, but I found another interface on that site that will probably work better and because it uses a dock connector and allows the iPod to charge while connected. Thanks for the link.

If you decide you want to upgrade the new pioneer preimer stuff looks promising: 880prs and 980bt are pretty sweet. Not to mention the 980bt is bluetooth capable.

Meets all the criteria you listed and more minus the menory stick and ATRAC.
