Aero Port position help

I’ve got a box I already had made for a different sub but it works with my new one. I don’t want to make another box so will this setup work? I’m just not sure of how the port will sit near the sub like drawn.

It'll work, but the port is too close to the driver. I've done something similar and it did work but it effectively made the volume around the port unused. It's hard to explain.

Wouldn't you be down to nearly 1 cube net after displacement of the port and driver?

You are correct. In an ideal situation, the port mouth is on the opposite end of the enclosure as the driver is. This allows a more even compression/decompression of the entire airspace within the enclosure. With the port very near the driver, it can create a tunneling effect of airflow and the perceived volume of the enclosure will go down.

And in an enclosure with multiple speakers utilizing the same airspace, ideally each driver will be equidistant from the mouth of the port. This is an error I see in homemade/custom enclosures here a lot. Not really related to this thread, but I felt this was worth adding to the above comment.

6" port diameter I like to keep them 6" away from any walls. 4" port = 4" away, etc

I also like to keep the port end away from the sub magnet, whatever the sub diameter is sounds like a good minimum distance to me...

So either facing up or out the side would work? Also how long does the port need to be?

No. You would calculate the net volume of the box as the internal volume (remove the width of the walls from your measurements, and subtract around .2 cubes for the driver.
The volume with nothing subtracted is 2.188 FT^3. Sub is .11 ft^3, 2 braces I have are 0.0143 ft^3.
