Advice Please

Hi, i am going to attempt to construct a custom boot install with the help of some qualified carpenters at work. Ideally i want to have the box with 2 subs at the bottom with the subs mounted upside down and the amp on the back of the seats as a friend of mine had a similar install which sounded great. This will be in a VW Golf mk4 so the box will measure around 40inches by 30 inches however if using 1 inch MDF then this will leave only a 5 inch mounting depth hence the reason i wanted to mount upside down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i have limited knowledge any ideas on subs and amps which would sound good in this set up and any general tips as i have never attempted anything like this all suggestions welcome.
