Advice on switching over to Sundown.

So in my current crap setup i have 2 12inch re rex subwoofers. Don't bash too hard, it was my first experience with subwoofers, and i just wanted to see if i would like it. But now i've been bitten by the bass bug and I can't get enough. So my question is do you think that 1 sundown sa 12 would have more bass output that the 2 crap subs i have now? I'll be powering it with the 1000W re amp i have now that says it can do 800W at 1 ohm but i doubt that.

what amp do you have currently? and its gonna depend on the box more than anything.

The REX woofers arent horrible.. RE makes good stuff, what are the specs on your enclosure? You will losing cone area 1 12 vs 2 12's the 2 will usually win especially on the same amount of power.

Yes a big noticeable difference you need.one built to your needs the subs and the vehicle there's a lot that goes into a box believe it or not.

The enclosure is the backbone of the subwoofer stage. So, yes you will notice a rather large difference.

assuming its like most prefabs it's probably tuned aroudn 37+ with little to no port at all.

yup get a box made up and try that. there is a couple box builders and designers here so it shouldnt be a problem for to find one.

Okay guys thanks for the advice. I wouldn't mind building it all myself, but what specs should i build it to? One day i would like to upgrade the subs too, so wouldn't that be bad to design the box specifically to the re subs?

edit: also you could have a box built for the subs you intend to get and just throw the RE's in it. as long as the required enclosure isnt too far off they will sound good and sound a hell of alot better than the prefab.

Building your own enclosure is the cheapest and most rewarding way. You can purchase a design from one of many sources and use that to build an enclosure.

Altering your subs may indeed change the enclosure required to get the fullest potential from them.
