Advice on runing Phoenix Gold rsd 65cs 6½" witth kicker zx550.2

so bascially if you are a begginer go passive i am looking at 6.5 comps by polk momo's any input on those

also how much rms would u give the tweeter if you went active
a tweeter run actively, probably won't need more than 25 watts ever. but headroom is still nice to have. my tweeters get plenty loud run off my HU but i still want more on them.

I know. I need to go in the order of my priorities though. First priority is a new car. The deal fell through on what I thought was a lock, so now I am back to square one. It sucks even more now too because Kicker has updated their accomodations for all of their '08 stuff, but I don't want to buy anything until i know what car it is going in.

What is an RTA? I see it mentioned every once in a while, but I never knew what it was...
oh i see. an RTA means real time analysis. you use a mic with a laptop with the correct software. you play pink noise through the speakers either one at a time or do it through the system as a whole. it pretty much maps out the frequency response on screen. shows your peaks and dips and such. some programs if you get into it enough can also plot out the timing so you can time align everything with it as well.

eventually i will get a mic and the software and see what exactly is going on. the next few steps for me though is to get an amp on my tweeters and do a good bit more sound deadening first.

oh, gotcha. That sounds like it would be a pretty nice tool to have.

yea it does. i have yet to use one or even see one being used. but i'll do it eventually. maybe this summer or fall. it seems like it's actually not that expensive to setup. under $200 easy.

hmm, that doesn't seem to bad. Where would one purchase the mic and software?

i listen to a lot of rap with deep *** bass.. but i also listen to alota old school rap which is usualy loud kicks... im realy confused now after reading all this.. money realy isnt a problem i want my perfect system so i ask now for the loudest set up should i get two amps for the components? 550 for the mids and the 220 for the tweaters? or should i just passive them?

if you understand how active works and have the equipment to do it, then why not. if you're new to this stuff and don't really understand it then just run it passive, at least to start off with.

also, just wanting it to be louder isn't a good reason alone to go active. my setup isn't really louder now than before. active is usually done so you can fine tune things more for SQ. running active doesn't mean louder.

I want to run my hsk 165's active.. what amp should i get for my tweets? What crossovers would everyone suggest? im on a budget but ill get what i wont regret getting.

I am not familiar with your drivers, but it would be good to know what the mid bass and tweeter frequency responses are as well as their power handling. It is not necessary, but it could make things easier for you when you go to tuning. Most tweeters will never need more than 100w (possibly 50w)... tcguy has his tweeters powered by his 880 (for the moment), but they generally won't need much. I am not familiar with external crossovers, but I see the Memphis and Coustic crossover being suggested a lot. I think they are in the neighborhood of 50 bucks.

tweeters from what most experts are saying, won't normally use or need more than 25 watts except for extreme transient peaks. i plan to get an amp that does about 70-80 per channel at 4 ohms. just in case i someday happen to switch out to tweeters that are 6 or 8 ohm. then i'll still have enough. but i'd get an amp with id say anywhere from 50-75 watts per side for tweeters. headroom is nice to have, and amps that small won't cost much either.
