Advice on correct subwoofers. (viewed sticky thread on asking for advice first)

I am looking for some advice on which subwoofers would be best for the setup I have. I am extremely inexperienced with audio systems so I read through the sticky threads for the correct method to ask and will do my best to be clear and provide ALL necessary information. Thanks in advance!

Vehicle: 2001 Dodge Ram 1500.

Sub box: ASC dual 10" box. (custom made for this year/model of truck, it faces down under the back seat. Dimensions- Width 46" x Front Height 10-1/2" x Rear Height 4-1/2" x Depth 18"

Number of subs preferred: 2.

Size preferred (if configuration allows): Has to be two 10" shallow mount subwoofers.

Mounting Depth: 5-1/4 Inches

Budget:$250.

Power to be used (which amp(s), include which resistance):BOSS AUDIO 1200W 5 Channels Bridgeable MOSFET Bridgeable Power Amplifier (this amp was something my father in law had laying around, its free so I'd like to use it). I am new and don't understand all this very well yet, but I believe I am not going to use this amp to power anything but these two subs, I'll let my trucks stock setup run the speakers (i'll probably switch them out for nicer ones but leave the wiring the same).

Space available (take measurements, do not guess): Measurements sufficiently covered above I believe.

Goals: Nothing crazy just nice deep lows in my truck.

Listening habits: I listen to a wide variety of music, however I am looking to use these for mostly alternative rock. However I want them be capable of bringing the deep bass for the occasional rap/electronic music.

Preferred brands/subs/whatever: I don't have any preferences yet as I am so new with this. All I can say is from my individual research I like the way the "Polk" brand presents, but there is no data or knowledge beyond that.

Once again any advice/suggestions/thoughts are really appreciated, I tried my best to include all the necessary information.

have you already gotten the box? the most important thing in getting output is going to be your enclosure and sub choice, shallow mounts generally dont do nearly as good a job as their full size counterpart.

the amp is going to be problematic, mainly because it's garbage quality (it is what it is) and doesn't put out real power. it will work for the time being, but you need to seriously consider getting something different. even a ppi900.5 for $180 will make you very surprised when compared to the output of the boss amp and you can run all your speakers off of it, including your doors

ideally you'll get a custom box built after raising the rear seat 2-3 inches and then you'll port or t-line a few 8s or 10s

i guess what im saying is, take a step back and follow a different path before you invest money where its not as effective as it could be. the cost is going to be higher than you think for the output you expect..

I appreciate the blunt advice on the Amp, and I will plan on replacing it, probably with the one you listed. As for the sub box it is already purchased, I can return it through amazon and eat like 20$ in shipping (not a big deal). However raising my seat to fit a bigger box under it sounds like it might be out of my league. I like the idea of running my speakers off my amp as well. Is it possible to get decent quality out of a shallow mount setup?
