advice on active 3-way crossovers

There are LOTS of electronic crossovers that are untested - this is one of them. I say go for it and tell us how it goes. Just be aware, though, that it only has 12db/octave slopes, so you lose some flexibility there.

yeah thats the only thing I dont like about it....

This, find one that has t/a and independent level control for each speaker.
Believe me if I had the money I would go for an 880 prs but im broke //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Something with an adjustable slope would be ideal. Flexibility is key with going active. I'd suggest finding an older alpine deck like a 9813 or 9815, sometimes you can pick them up on ebay for a reasonable price. Time alignment, adjustable slope, and decent selection of crossover points.
