iam looking at getting either a alpine 7897, a eclipse cd8053, or a pioneer deh-940mp

i like them all and i cant decide which one i like better i am wondering which you guys would go with if you equally wanted sq, features, and a good price becuase sometimes i feel like i would rather have the eclipse for the sq,

or the alpine for the price and good things ive heard about them,

or the pioneer for the features

All three head units come with endless feature lists ...

You won't notice a difference in "sound quality" between the units, unless you have dog ears.

Not a lot of difference's between the Alpine and the Pioneer ... I think the Pioneer has 13 or so EQ bands, while the Alpine has 5.

It's a touch choice ... personally I'm an Alpine/Eclipse fan ... but I'm not going to persuade you into either of the units. If you have access to any of the units, I suggest you play with them and see what you like and dislike.

You really can't go wrong with either of the units //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what difference does it make if the eq has only 5 bands instead of 13 bands

does the v-drive for the 9815 work well or does it just add distortion

the 7897 seems bigger than the other h/us will it fit in a normal space or will it take up more room because i have a 1,1/2 size din space from my stock radio and i would like to cover that up

also if you guys have any other recommendations it would help out i am looking at spending around $550 or less for a h/u that has an interal amp

why is a hu without an internal amp more expensive than a hu with an internal amp

The Pioneer allows you to EQ your music a little better than the Alpine ... some people go for the Pioneer so they don't have to buy an external EQ later on down the road.

Yes the V-drive on the 9815 works well ... at any rating you need to know when you turn your head unit down to save your speakers ... you can turn the internal amp off if you arent using it.

7897/7998 is a regular DIN but the face is a 1.3 or 1.5 DIN size ... so you'll need an installation kit to fill in the gaps around the unit ($10).

the alpine will have more features, and in my experience, eclipses have slightly better SQ. they are both great decks though. check them out, see what looks good to you and what suits your needs. most people can hardly tell the difference in SQ between the higer end alpines and eclipses.
