advice from the spl guru's

ive been using winisd and going over different box ideas. it seems the higher the tuning of the box, the higher the db's are on my graph. have you ever used winisd?

Well I remembered I have a 5 cubic foot box in the garage I built for a 15 FI Q. I'm cutting theport down to 5 inches for a 50hz tone and cutting the hole for the sub to fit the eighteen. After that I will retest to see where my numbers go. I'm sure the smaller box will ams higher tuning will help.

Not sure was using a sweeping tone. I could not get ahold of individual tones as the realm of excursion sight was down. But if I had to guess in the 40s. Does a 50hz tuning sound okay? . Also if you have or know where to get tones in 1hz increments let me know

I dont know where to get them sorry. but before you tune anything ask around about the vehicle you have and do some searching about there peak.

you want to tune 7-10 hrtz below your peak.

I believe my peak is around 52hz. So I may tune my box to 45? Info of peak was from termpro forum
well that a good start. when you build the box make the port length removable so you can pull it out and cut it down and test that way you can be closer to your peak.

dont forget to write down everything you do

volume, length of port, score, peak dont forget you always want your batteries charged to the same voltage before you test agian. once you find your peak and get the box where you want it.then you can start on the vehicle mods.sealing holes, dampening, towels under the seat's,seat placement, where to brace the car when testing?

i have alot of experiance with single 18s in my rides. after reading the whole thread this is what im gonna suggest....

new box 5.5 cubes tuned to 37 with 20 inches of port per cube.

do sub up port back

use allthread to brace box

get a bigger second battery

WOW, smaller box helped my score in the port. did 162 from 150.4. and did 1 147 in the kick.

i will be running in super port wars as locally people are barely hitting high 160's, so i think i can make up the deficit easily by changing port area, tuning seems to be rendering good results.

so what was the kick score before the change's?

LOL, thing is i never measured from kick before. i've realized in my bracket im competing in that i could meter in the kick with door open.

i have now decided to do port wars for now, cost less and easier to run in. eventually i will make my way to super modified when i get the money to put into interior modifications(roof bracing, sound deadner more batteries etc.

my goal is a 170db in the port. right now im doing 162, with a slotted port not external. since i am running super port, i can fold down the back seat to allow for room of an external port now.

that brings me to ask, where would i find a REALLY GOOD port calculator that gives accurate external port lengths? i have tried my normal sources (the12volt.com etc) and i have compared results to other calculators, and get different lengths.

external internal its all the same as long as the cuft is the same.

do you have any ideas on building a super port box? because you will need to be doing a 183+ IIRC and its not hard LOL
