i'm going to attempt my first installation of a system in my girl's car.

can someone tell me what i'll need?

its for a 96 honda accord.

i'll be installing the HU, a 4 channel amp, set of comps and maybe a set of coax.

do i need a wire harness?

do i need a HU mounting bracket?

i'm guessing i'll need an amp kit.

speaker wire (gauge?).

fuses(size).

any input will be appreciated to help prepare for my first installation attempt.

you'll deffinitely need a HU mounting bracket and a wire harness.

As far as the amp kit goes.. we need to know what kind of amp it is (model/maker) before we can recommend something to you.

And don't be afraid to tug hard to get panels and stuff out. I would work on a panel for like 20 minutes thinking there was some release or something, only to discover I wasn't pulling hard enough.

Just to add to what has already been said, make sure you know how to remove the door panels, dash, threshold, etc. Take you time and plan how you’re going to run the wires and connect everything. Even if you don’t have the equipment yet, I did my first install and took my time. Everything turned out great. Good luck!

to get the deck in.. you need to take apart the arm rest. there are two screws on the side in between the seats and there are two inside the box. slide the assembly back. there will be two screws at the bottom of the gear shift area. take those off, there are also two screws under the radio (one in the ash tray and one right beside it). remove the black plastic bezel that encompasses the shift area and the radio. then there will be two screws holding the whole radio to the dash. or maybe it was four, either way those are easy to find.

wow, thanks for the response. i am giving my girlfriend my diamond d3 400.4 amp. so i'm assuming an 8 gauge or larger (4awg) amp kit will do. i'm debating right now whether i should get the q-logic kick panels they make for honda accords. as for her car being my first install, i'm giving her all the gear, so at least she can let me do my learning on her car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
