how bad would this make my system sound if i built a seperate enclosure for two 8's SEALED up near the front of my blazer? I don't have room for kicks, nor do i know how to fiberglass them in... but i want to be able to bring some bass forward for my rock music (the drums, the acoustik guitars, ect...) I can barely hear a lot of the notes from my sx...

I'd be treating the 8's as mid woofers... to play notes from 80-120 or so...

Thanks

Yep, run dedicated midbass (Koda8's for example), and more like 50-250hz. You can then raise your filter to your comps up to 250hz, giving you better SQ from them and more power handling. Midbass should be from in front of you, and in stereo, btw.

It will make a night and day difference, especially for alot of rock music.

srry to jack the thread but what size speakers are best for hearing words in the music?

becasue i have a reg cab truck and my dash speakers are busted and im gonna unhook them so i need to know what size speakers to buy for up front for words or music? not to go in the dash just for in kicks or sumthin.

Have you considered ones the same size as the speakers you pulled out of your truck? It would be kind of convenient.. Regardless, post this same question in the SPEAKERS forum. Thanks.

With 8s you could probably get away with small sealed boxes out of 1/2" MDF. As long as they're painted right and not completely in the way, you should be set to go on looks. I put them in the kicks, used 3/4" MDF, and no paint or anything. It looked terrible.

Ive heard of people making sealed door pods out of tupperware bowls. I may do it if I ever run my idq8's in anything, seems like a cool idea to me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You'd have to use body filler, fiberglass, or lots of acoustik foam to keep it from resonating, but for a midbass 8, those would keep anything from resonating. =p

If you are talking to me, or about the tupperware bowl idea, yes it would have to be glassed into position. As for vibrations, that's why Ive applied concrete to my doors, among other things. But then, this thread isn't about my setup... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
