I was woundering if this would be a good idea. I thinking about adding 2 more subs to my system, im running 2 10" bazookas on a 2 channel pioneer 760 watt amp. If im not mistaken i can wire like the "left" to one box and the "right" to another bx using a simple "Y" splitter. Would this effect the sound or anything at all?

your amp MUST be able to handle the load of more speakers----- damage to the amp can occur

How do i know if the amp can handle it? the RMS ratings? The amp i have is a 160 watt and the RMS on the subs i have in right now is 200 without water cooling which i dont have. So if i were to add in 2 more of the same type that would be a total rms load of 800, which is 40 watts MORE then the amp has, but will they actually be runnign at the max RMS that much? and will this make my bass hit harder?

it is the resistance load (ohm load) that will damage the amp, not the power. the lower the resistance, the more power the amp gives, which makes it overheat and run a lot harder than it was meant to. kinda like always running your engine at 5000RPM

OOOOOOOOh, i c. my subs right now are runnign at 4 ohms. adding the extra 2 would bring it to a 2 ohm load, correct? how do i make sure the amp can handle that?

no, if you have 2 subs at 4Ohms each, right now they are running at 2 or 8Ohms. if you add two more, it could be at 1, 4, and 16 (these ar the basic ones, you might be able to get more). look on the manufacturers website of your amp to see what your amp can handle.

The amp "should" be able to handle the 2ohm load.....and drkodin...he is running the amp in stereo (not mono bridged) according to his description thus far....he is running the two 4 ohm subs at 4 ohms on the amp load. It would be best in adding another 2 subs to run the subs in two sets. each pair in a series and then wired parallel to the amp so it sees a 4ohm load still. If you provide the amp with a 4ohm load it should be fine tho may or may not be anough power to feed the speakers fully. It should be fine however if wired properly. Any other help feel free to drop us a line.
